Save or Toss? Makeup Shelflife

Hey Gorg ones !

This is something I've always wanted to share!
Even some makeup artists don't know.

Shelf life of your makeup.
Shelf life just means a period something can be used before it becomes bad or unsuitable for use.

After reading this post, I bet you'd run to raid your dresser/vanity table.

So here....

I chose a diverse range of products

From left: Primer, A foundation without sunscreen, fixing spray, sublime powder, dark spot eraser, glitter glue, a foundation with sunscreen.

You'll see a bin sign with numbers on it.

They all have different shelf lives.

So what you want to do is turn to the back of the product.

It's written mostly at the bottom.

My Black Up sublime powder states 24 months

My Lancome teint miracle states 12 months

My Ben nye glitter glue states 36 months

Easy as ABC...!

Longest shelf life I've seen is 36months.

This means, DO NOT USE THE PRODUCT FOR LONGER THAN 36MONTHS AFTER OPENING.

If it says 12, you know what that means.

I know someone learnt something.
I was once clueless too!

Product Review | Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation

Hey gorg ones!
Hope you guys had a fun weekend?
I'm glad I don't have to answer that question, Cause honestly, I don't how the weekend disappeared.

Thought to review this foundation, used it long enough to express how I feel about it,
So yeah, The Lancome teint miracle is popular for having a dewy finish (I'm a sucker for dewy skin) and gives your skin a healthy glow while offering a light coverage.

That's what the packaging looks like. Pretty decent!
I mean! It looks expensive (well it is, no doubt).

I don't wear foundation everyday but trust me, those days I decide to? This has come to stay.
If you're like me that tends to feel the slightest things and easily gets uncomfortable, you'll love this foundation.
It's pretty much light , like really really light and it's oil-free.
Has SPF 5 (that's a plus) and it leaves a really light glowy finish.
If i had just a word to describe this foundation, I'll call it "skin".

Has a pump, comes out in decent quantity so there's really no fear about waste.

This foundation doesn't block pores. |I didn't experience any breakouts whatsoever.
It’s not too heavy but build-able, perfect for everyday makeup.
Would I buy this foundation again? YES I will.
Probably wont be the only one I have to use but when I want a skin-like natural finish, I know which product to reach out for.

I'm in the shade "12" and I believe they have up to a LUPITA lol! My friend is slightly darker than
I am and she got a "13". I believe their brand ambassador LUPITA would be a "15".

And yeah! It doesn't smell bad at all. You'll have to be sniffing for a scent actually to even notice. The scent I can't describe but not harsh at all.

Cons

  • If you look clearly into my pictures, you'll see a chipped part of the bottle. If you're clumsy like me, you want to be careful.
  • It's Pricey yo! If you're on a budget please look elsewhere! Lol!
  • It shifts when it's really hot (well most foundations move under the sun).

Pros

  • Natural dewy finish
  • Build-able to medium coverage
  • Has SPF
  • Oil free
  • Decent packaging, looks like a high end perfume package
  • Long lasting in cool environments
  • Wide colour range, you'll definitely find your shade
  • Non-comedogenic

The Lancome Teint Idole is carried by ESSENZA, ESSENZA carries other high end makeup brands and they are located at Palms Shopping Mall, Ikeja City Mall.
Currently retails for N10,100.

DIY : Cheap lipstick palette

Heyy darrrrrlyns!
I know it's been forever, no excuses!
I kinda "holiday-ed" too much and got extra extra lazy! X_X

Today's DIY (Do it Yourself) post is a fun one and way cool if you're
1. On a budget
2. Not in love with flamed deporting of lipsticks (like me)
3. Looking to stop carrying bulky stuff around

On a budget...
This is like the cheapest way to have your best of lipsticks in one place. Cost of this home made palette is approximately 300-500 naira. Getting a MAC empty palette or the Z Palette with the inserts would cost waaaaay more than.

Not in love with flamed deporting...
So there are like other methods of deporting where you actually have to melt the lipsticks over direct flame. I just feel like after that direct heat, something goes wrong.

Looking to stop carrying bulky stuff...
Fun how 21 or more of your favourite lipsticks are together. Just a hand away!

All you need

1. A pill box (found in standard pharmacies)
2. A hand dryer
3. A cosmetic spatula ( well, i used a table knife)
4. Sanitizer wipe (you could use any non toxic cleaning agent)
5. A flat mixing palette ( I sha used a film... The point is, use a non messy surface that would not absorb your lipstick)
6. And your lipstick.

Here's how...

Disinfect all you'll use

Mac "Cyndi", Beauty UK "Sunset" and Avon "totally kissable".

Choose lipsticks to be deported
Roll lipstick all the way and cut 3/4 way

 Crush evenly

Carefully transfer to pill box

Spread evenly in box

Clean any mess

Turn dryer on to low heat and hold on to the lipstick.

After 2mins ( or more depending on the  lipstick) your lipstick should look like this

Leave to cool and YEEEEEPS! You're done :)

You might want to peel off the name from the lipstick and stick on your palette for easy reference.
Ces finis!

Repeat till you get all you want

This post will be updated after I fill all the empties.
Here's Hoping this was helpful to you!

And oh! Sorry about the poor photos, y'all sha get the drill *wink

Mwah!

Mini Haul: H.O.T

Hello everyone :)
Here's believing y'all are having a pleasant holiday.

So... 2days ago, i happened to be around the House of Tara school I was trained at and decided to "branch" and say a quick hello.
That's how "quick hello" carried me to the studio and there! Products! New products! Screaming my name!

What i got...

1.
Foundation

This they said it's a medium coverage foundation. I got the shade TF314 (i'll tell you soon what the equivalent in Mary Kay medium coverage should be, i know everyone's used that one time), it's written for normal to oily skin, suitable for sensitive skin, oil free and non comedogenic (if this is true after i try it, i guess i've found "the foundation").

2.
Lip pencil
I've used this brown lip pencil severally and this particular shade is called "Afia". Perfect for a nude lipstick.

3.
High pigment lipgloss
I have used other shades but not this particular one. I'm a sucker for nude lips and wanted something i could wear over a nude lipstick. I hope this works well. This shade is called "Okenne".

4.
Bronzer
Yuuup! They have a bronzer now and i totally love the packing! Looks serious and like a high end product. The bronzer comes in two shades. I got the "light", the second is probably called medium or dark, can't remember but its darker than the light anyway. Really can't wait to try this!

5.
Blusher
This was the first product that screamed my name lol! Talking 'bout "Bemi, come get meeeeeeeeeee" (in Usher's voice). I have the Tara blush palette but this shade isn't there (these people just know how to make you buy and buy). Dunno if my iPhone camera did justice to the colour this beauty is, but it's gorrrrg! It's in the shade "Gimbiya".
See!

I'll try those i haven't and get back to say what i think about them!
Enjoy the holidays!

Review! Shany Cosmetics 180 palette

Hello everyone! :D
I know I'm probably the most inconsistent beauty blogger ever LOL! Sorry! (as usual)

Yeah!
So i think i'm doing this review out of small annoyance -______- LOL!
There's nothing more annoying than dropped expectations *sobs*

Oh well!
I got this my Shany 180 palette some months back, (from a student whose sister sent them from the US) was still in makeup school and of cause i couldn't wait to lay my hands on it!

What i said on I.G the when i got it lol!

Lol! The caption!

The middle palette,detachable..
Ooh! Thought i got a palette of life! (-_-)
Oh well...

The uselessness of this palette didn't dawn on me until i had to do a shoot recently. I can't explain further lol!

Funny thing is most of the colours are actually really pigmented but they don't stay put, even with a primer. The colour starts falling after an hour.
I recommend this product for those who just want to paint and play *shrugs*, SO NOT FOR PROFESSIONAL USE. I mean! Don't use this thing if you're going to get paid for a job. Just use it to play.

I did a few swatches anyway. Here...
With flash. The top row is w/o a base
While the bottom row is with a base.

Without flash..

See what happened after i used a wet wipe to swipe once
No single stay effect! Just like powder abii chalk!
I'm definitely not buying any shany eyeshadow again lol!

Do have a great weekend!
Mmmwah!
